International Flamenco Day was celebrated on November 16, and to mark the occasion, events and performances were organized around that date in many parts of Andalusia for all those who appreciate this art form.
Flamenco was inscribed by the UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which reinforces its cultural, artistic, and identity-defining value.
We were there with them—with our colleagues from Abogados Mairena del Alcor IN DIEM—at the event held on Saturday , November 18. Mairena del Alcor and flamenco have always been closely linked.
In this case, through an avant-garde performance, we enjoyed a blend of cante jondo with the most contemporary band and symphonic arrangements.
Andrés Barrios played the piano; Eduardo Rebollar played the guitar; Manuel Curao provided the narration; and José de la Mena, from Mairena, delivered an impressive and unforgettable vocal performance. The composition was by David Hurtado.
For us, it was a deeply moving experience—the kind of art that touches your heart and leaves no one indifferent—and we sincerely hope that all lovers of flamenco and contemporary music will be able to enjoy the fruits of so many hours of work, such dedication, and such beauty.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our immense gratitude for the contribution of Mairena del Alcor, the musicians, the City Council, all those in attendance, and—most especially for us— our appreciation to José de la Mena, a native of Mairena, for his artistry and talent, his impressive work ethic and dedication, his profound humility, and his unparalleled humanity.
