“Building Bridges” Conference: Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin

IMPORTANT: This post covers a conference held on May 17, 2018, on blockchain, cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, ICOs, and legal regulation. It serves as a historical record of the event, but the regulatory framework for crypto-assets has changed significantly since then, particularly with the adoption and implementation of the MiCA Regulation. Currently, any inquiries regarding token issuance, ICOs, crypto-asset service providers, investment in crypto-assets, or regulatory compliance must be reviewed in accordance with current regulations and the current guidelines of the CNMV, ESMA, and other competent authorities.

Building Bridges Conference: Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin

Last Thursday, May 17, 2018, a new conference in the Building Bridges series was held. The event featured presentations by prominent members of Rotary Club Sevilla. This event was also sponsored by the club through the newly created Smart Meeting.

With a large public turnout, guests began arriving at San Francisco de Paula school around 7:00 PM, with presentations commencing around 7:30 PM.

The conference was led by the director of the Rotary Corporate Business Network, Mr. Martin Arévalo, a business coach, author of 18 books, and business/motivational speaker. Mr. Martín Arévalo introduced the speakers and delivered his presentation, ‘Rotary Club and its Business Network,’ where all attendees gained firsthand insight into the club’s work.

Presentations were delivered by:

  1. Manuel Ortigueira, with the presentation ‘Blockchain: The Evolution of the Internet’
  2. Félix Jiménez Naharro with ‘New Funding Sources with Offering (ICO)’
  3. Milán Balabán, with the presentation ‘Experience and Creation of Cryptocurrencies’
  4. Ángel del Pino Ibáñez, Director of IN DIEM Abogados, with the topic ‘Cryptocurrencies and their Legal Regulation.’

IN DIEM Abogados, through our colleague Mr. Ángel del Pino Ibáñez, was responsible for developing and explaining essential aspects of the nature of cryptocurrencies, their operation, and the legal framework that allows their use as a means of payment and investment, as well as associated operational risks. It has been a pleasure for us to participate and share this knowledge cycle with the event attendees, invited speakers, Smart Meeting, and the Rotary Club Sevilla Corporate.
