International Flamenco Day 2017

International Flamenco Day was celebrated on November 16, and to mark the occasion, around that date, events and shows were organized throughout Andalusia for all who appreciate this dimension of art.

We were with them, with our colleagues from Mairena del Alcor IN DIEM Lawyers, for the celebration on Saturday, November 18. Mairena del Alcor and Flamenco have always been intimately linked.

In this instance, with an avant-garde show, we enjoyed a blend of cante jondo with the most contemporary band and symphonic instrumentation. The performance featured Andrés Barrios on piano; Eduardo Rebollar on guitar; Manuel Curao as narrator; and the impressive and unforgettable Mairena native José de la Mena on vocals. The composition was by David Hurtado.

For us, it was filled with emotion, with that art that touches the heart and leaves no one indifferent… and with the profound wish that so many hours of work, such demanding effort, and such beauty can be enjoyed by as many flamenco and contemporary music lovers as possible.

From here, we extend our immense gratitude for the contribution of Mairena del Alcor, to the musicians, to the City Council, to all attendees… and, for us, especially our recognition to Mairena native José de la Mena, for his art and talent, impressive work ethic and sacrifice, profound humility, and unparalleled human quality.
