Glosario MiCA 2026: 25 términos que debes dominar

MiCA 2026 Glossary: 25 Terms You Must Master

Why do you need to understand MiCA right now?

The European regulatory landscape has taken a definitive turn. What until recently was a crypto ecosystem marked by regulatory uncertainty is now transforming into a binding legal framework.

This change affects token issuers, exchanges, custodians, and any project operating with crypto-assets in the European Union. The MiCA Regulation is not a simple directive that Member States can interpret freely.

It is a directly applicable regulation. It is already changing the way companies develop their business models.

Why is mastering the MiCA glossary crucial?

If your project has European ambitions, mastering the language of MiCA is no longer optional. In practice, those who understand these concepts will not only avoid sanctions.

  • Attract institutional investment
  • Access banking services
  • Build reputation in the crypto sector

This glossary brings together the 25 key terms that any founder, CFO, legal advisor, or compliance officer must master before 2026.

It is not about memorizing technical definitions. It is about understanding how these concepts impact your daily operations, regulatory obligations, and growth strategy.

MiCA: the new European standard that changes the rules of the game

The Regulation on Markets in Crypto-Assets, known as MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets), represents the first comprehensive regulatory framework of the European Union.

Main characteristics of the MiCA Regulation

What distinguishes MiCA from other regulations is its horizontal approach. It is not limited to regulating a single type of asset or service.

It covers everything from stablecoins to trading platforms. For an overview, you can review our Simple Guide to the MiCA Regulation

What MiCA means for crypto companies

Companies must adopt standards comparable to those of the traditional financial sector: transparency, corporate governance, capital requirements, audits, etc.

The 25 essential terms of the MiCA glossary

1. Crypto-Asset

MiCA defines a crypto-asset as a digital representation of value or rights that can be transferred or stored electronically using DLT technology.
